Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

DeeGee, I'm planning to run Oaklands parkrun on the 22nd, precisely because it is on the (X1) bus route half-way between Birmingham City Centre and the NEC. It was all on tarmac and suitable for road shoes the last time I ran there.

Curious about milestones… this Saturday it is my 50th, do they ‘call you’ on the day of your milestone or the week after to celebrate what you have already achieved?

If someone tells our RD when they arrive that it is a milestone we will mention it at the start. Otherwise if we spot in the results that it was a milestone we will big it up in the run report.

Unless you specifically ask the RD for a shout out or turn up with balloons etc it happens without anyone passing comment at Delamere though it might get picked up in the run report depending on who's doing it.

But anyway I thought under the covid protocols there was an instruction to keep briefings short and not do shout outs these days?

We only do shout outs if told about them here at Elgin - and as Larks says we are supposed to keep briefs as shorts as possible (room for a Carry On joke there) but if only 1 then we can sneak it in.

I don't do shout outs but other members of the core team do.

Why would I give anyone else glory in my 2 minute stand up comedy routine with a captive audience?

As above - shout outs for milestones if we're made aware in advance (or on the day) at Fell Foot. No problem fitting one or two into a short pre-run brief.

Might be a challenge on the 22nd - one of our octogenarians is due to hit 250 and it's going to be hard not to make at least a bit of a fuss.

Ingo it will be ignored unless you or one of your entourage mentions it to the RD.

Or unless you decide to run with a balloon...

My 100th was announced about 3 times which was odd when I had it called out previous weeks and was by then on 102.

I should get to 150 before the summer :-)

IIRC the 'shout outs' were quietly re-allowed a few weeks back (Probably October/November?) in an update that also reinstated pacing events. The teams I'm most familiar with discussed it at the time but decided to mostly ignore it and stick with what they were doing.
