I don’t envy the event teams in the countries where they have to check the runners’ vaccination status and/or test results (as mentioned in the link on the previous page). Sounds easier just to cancel.

My daughter is in NZ and they only check the vaccinations when your lined up being scanned. So you can run but not get a result. Not sure how this helps stop the spread.

Interestingly the 5k run that has been cancelled next week have stated that it was due to a lack of medical cover and a concern over indoor registration, which isn't a problem that parkrun had.

It doesn't. But it meets the local requirements and shows that they are silly requirements at the same time.

Well they are not (yet) asking for legal advice on Twitter about suing local authorities and landowners but this blog.parkrun.com Cites two papers that seem to me to be opinion masquerading as science.
What would be needed to make the papers science rather than opinion? Zero cases of transmission identified at parkrun events, and other than setting up someone with covid to cough on everyone as they start running and then testing them for the same strain of covid a few days later I'm not sure what they can do to prove it's safe. There is surely enough known about transmission in various other situations that the assumptions made about potential for transmission outside at parkrun can be fairly safe opinions.

A rigourous methodology published beforehand with protocols for data collection openly published and adhered to. Analysis, results and data fully released and peer reviewed.

Re: the possibility of running alone at Saturday at 9am, sure it's possible but personally I find the occasional group run (club or parkrun) and being in the presence of other humans very beneficial for my mental health. I do probably 80% of my miles alone anyway but really felt it last winter when we were not allowed to exercise in groups. Very isolating never really seeing other people (we live in a rural area). For me it's a significant mental benefit as much as a physical one and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
