Pretty much what CumbriAndy said - mileage up, weight down, but parkrun was my only real speedwork and when I've tried to go out and run 5k hard on my own, it's been a couple of minutes down on my parkrun times from January.

Bob!
I'm on a 78 day running streak. My fastest this year pre-Covid is 25.32. Have tried to run a fast Saturday 5k 3 times since, with decent results.
24.38, 24.42 and after a few weeks of 400m, then 600m efforts ran 24.18. My aim on starting the specific efforts was to get to 23.xx

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Another who has upped the mileage and dropped a bit of weight, but stuck only to the slow stuff for 10 weeks. I'm still getting mild versions of the calf issues which plagued recent parkruns, so I'd worry about these worsening again when I try to go hard.

Will be fine if they triple the distance.

I’ve kept up decent mileage, but other than a few virtual races, and over the last 3 weeks virtual speed work with my mate (we put the same training sessions on our Garmins, one of us calls the other and we chat before and after the session and during the recoveries) no speed work, most of my training runs have been slower than usual - either because I’m running with OH or when I’m running on my own I’m just plodding, and, given that I needed to lose weight even before lockdown, the fact I’ve gained weight doesn’t help.
So, short answer, I don’t think I’ll quite be at the stage of “feeling like it’s my first ever 5K”, but I’m certainly likely to be a lot slower.

I've done some decent training for me so I'm running well and have been pretty consistent over the last 5 or 6 weeks especially, but I don't know how that will translate to a parkrun. I've also dropped some weight - I'm the lightest I've been in years now so I'm really pleased about that. Silly things, but my club vest fits much better than it did 2 or 3 months ago! Very much looking forward to getting parkun if/when we're permitted to.

PS, my parkrun PB is a frustrating 20:01 so I'd very much like to break that!

Wow, AndyS, very unfortunate. Getting all your lost weight back and then some is particularly cruel. Good luck, take it easy.

Big_g: my first 10k I recorded 40:01, it took me 20 months and 7 races to get a 39:59 - that was a big 2 seconds
