Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I was thinking the same thing.

I assume the sponsorship contracts are fixed terms so money should keep rolling in until they expire. In terms of getting the sponsors name out there does the majority not come via comms (email, social media)? I don't see much of their names at events; Happy Egg Co et al should still be seeing return for they money, assuming we all keep reading and clicking...

In the UK, do you think they (parkrun) will veer too far from whatever guidance EA introduce in the coming weeks?

When they shut they were clear that they weren't making up their own rules, they were (broadly) doing whatever their key regulators (i.e. the UK govt and the athletics federations within the UK) were asking of them. It may be harder to do that when coming back; if UKA / EA / Scottish Athletics etc say races (sic) at at certain size are allowed, parkrun may struggle to match that up with their inherent flexibility. I'm sure as we get closer to that sort of position we'll know more about their thinking.

On the sponsorship front, broadly the companies supporting parkrun shouldn't be seeing too large a direct hit to their revenues, so are better positioned to maintain their support, though Vitality could be suffering from claims rising I suppose.

I read the blog as allowing countries with low infection (Oz, NZ?,) to open up first.
If so, I hope that wont attract the extreme parkrun tourist!

Teddy, I think the chances of either country letting anyone in from the UK in for quite some time are remote, so that should put paid to the uber tourists!

Flying to NZ to run three miles is madness. Anyone know which airlines go there please? ;-)

Joking apart have I imagined an earlier message saying in effect it’s Parkrun everywhere, or nowhere?
