Bob!
Maldon Prom is adjacent to the site of the Battle of Maldon in 991.

The local anglo-saxon lord Byrhtnoth lost to the Vikings. There is a statue of him at the end of the Prom.

A bit of a stretch, but the Knavesmire in York is 7+ miles east of Marston Moor, where - reputedly - the largest battle on English soil took place as part of the first English Civ il War.

Non-runner
Just got an email from parkrun about the Contra roadshow, bringing the gear to parkruns around the country for people to try on and even run in. I must admit to doing all my running in free race t shirts, and also my 50, 100 and 25 shirts, which are still in great shape; I don’t really buy branded running wear. Given that Contra supports parkrun though I guess it should be the first brand to consider. Has anyone purchased Contra gear, is it any good and worth the money?

I've got a short sleeved t-shirt and it's really good quality, a good fit and light; it would definitely be one I'd do a long run in on a hot summer day.

I got a tshirt at the Vitality 10k that is the same make (the fabric is just like a Contra tshirt someone I know has got) and I really like it. Very light and good fit.

Doesn't matter how good, I can't imagine ever buying a t-shirt to run in again.

Maybe someone will use these as an event shirt :-)

Rather nerdy son has just discovered some of the Parkrun stats and challenges. .... My parkrun life is about to be taken over by these pursuits and the governed by his spreadsheet !
