Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Yes, that's my usual way, I am within 4 miles of 5 parkruns so I run to them, same when I go to my Old Man's house, Northala Gardens is 4 miles along the canal.

When Mr Woo took up running back in February, I ran a few times at Leamington with him but decided that I enjoyed volunteering there far more. So now he runs it and I volunteer.

When we go away for weekends in the motorhome, we're going to try to be within cycling (or a short running) distance of a parkrun and I will run those. I like the novelty of a different one.

parkrun has always been a social event for me with a bit of competition thrown in. Once numbers started increasing the social side became more difficult as less of our parkrun chums attended or if they were there we didn’t know due to numbers. Now a regular at what is my fourth ‘home’ run. A bit of a trek - bus/train/run from the airport ( good facilities) to get there. We then have an 8 mile run home. There are usually more visitors than locals but, that tends to make you notice the locals more and with so many visitors, chatting and sharing experiences is easier. Ironically I have had more social interaction with old friends here as they visit from time to time. Rare for anyone other than the core team to visit the cafe as it does not open until 10 am but, there is a lot of post run recovery socialising on the dockside.

Parkrun has never been social for me. Its either a race or a planned tempo apart from one which was an MP test following a niggle that had put participation in the Marathon in doubt.

If I am just going for a run I would do that rather than go to parkrun

parkrun is always about the social for me. When we go on holiday we try to fit in a parkrun and always speak to the event team. Going to different cafes is nice!

One of our core team has done 369 of his 386 runs at our local, which has just had its 396th event. As he also sets up the 3-lap course most weeks, which changes regularly because the council ask for the start to be moved to preserve the grass, I dread to think how many times he has run round the park.

Rarely a social event for me. I sometimes have met up with fetchies at parkrun but of my 140 parkruns id say less than 10 times if stopped for coffee after, usually I have family commitments to get home to

Bazo, so you're saying you don't consider our bit of pre parkrun chat and post parkrun congratulations / commiserations three times in 9 years as "social"? Right, that's it, you're off my Christmas card list! ;-)

I think it's fascinating the different things people can get from the parkrunning! :-) G

Have to say, I do love the National Trust parkrun’s. As Jovi says, they always seem to pull in people to cafes afterwards.

Captive location and a nice setting will help with that!
Killerton & Yeovil down my way both a good day out.

Yeovil was lovely, did it with some friends (including 2 first timers) when on a group holiday in Somerset a few years back. Didn’t stay for coffee though, as headed back straight away to meet the non runners in our group (who hadn’t fancied getting out of bed at 8am on holiday just to watch us run)
