It's social for me too. I'd much rather volunteer at my home parkrun than run (hence why I've only run about 20 parkruns in the last 8 years).

Parkrun is almost entirely a "being part of the local running scene" thing for me, more so since I'm not in a local club.

It has sadly become less social or is that I have become less social?
No parkrun has.
One used to Tourist to go for coffee and meet the event team and a few runners. Now lots have no coffee and are too big for the chat.

My running club(s - plural, cos I'm a complete tart!) are my social running. And the ultra scene. I never needed parkrun for social. But it's fab nowadays, because I tend to know about 20 people at every parkrun or event I turn up at (or so it feels like!) so it's sociable too. Depends what you mean by social / sociable, of course! G

Gobi, come to Dinton Pastures. There's a lovely cafe and core team members are always in it after close-down and will speak to anyone! We always encourage people to come to the cafe and love seeing the sea of colourful running tees after 10am enjoying the social.

What about parkrun as recovery from injury or illness, Larkim? That could go under t-shirt or see where you are, I suppose, but I'd class it differently.
Thinking on it, I'd end up with over 100% as some of my touristing would also be to chase a time. It's also almost unknown that I just go somewhere, run, and head straight back - that to me is a bit odd. Eg last trip away, to Linwood, I was definitely running to push for a time, but after recovery time, I got my bike out for a cycle in the sun somewhere i hadn't been before.

Actually, how is everyone defining "touristing"? Any visit to somewhere other than your usual run? In which case i am touristing at my nearest parkrun. Is another return visit to a parkrun I have done multiple times before touristing? I have run 218/311 at my home parkrun; but have four others with at least eight runs. Three of which could be described as de facto home parkruns at some time.

Similar to SarahWoo I tend to volunteer at my home parkrun and run at others.
