Re how you define touristing, I'd say it was the first visit to a parkrun not your usual / home run. Wouldn't really say I'd touristed last weekend as I'd done that one (Wimbledon) before.

Come to Fountains Abbey Gobi. I think were quite unusual across parkrun in that approx 50% of runners got to the cafe afterwards for socialising.

Out of about 400 runners at my regular parkrun (and I've done about 33% of their events) I think I say hello to about 5-10, but there's little more sociable-ness about it than that *for me*. As I'm often at parkrun with my whole family, there's no real need or desire for it to be any more sociable than that!

I have done Pierre de Bresse 4 times now. Doesnt feel like touring but it is about 800 miles away.

Evolution is interesting

Bushy was home but was an 80 mile round trip
Basingstoke was home but is a 40 mile round trip
Eastleigh was home but was a 60 Mile round trip
Newbury was actually home and I ran there.

Parkrun data reflects these are my top 4 attended (245 of 391)

My daughter lives in Lincolnshire so I have 14 runs at Peterborough and 5 at Kings Lynn . These are my home away from home ones so I dont count these as touring either.

My current home is a proper new parkrun which started last year. I have only been 9 times to run and done half as many again volunteers. Has a nice cafe. I struggle with it's new wave approach of heroing up volunteers but they mean well.

After this there are a lot of runs/visits between 2 and 5 so seeing friends.

In effect i have concluded that really I have only been a tourist 37 times as they are single visits , include Poland , France and Denmark in here.

True Gobi, furthest event done is maybe 60 miles drive, 46 miles straight line. Drawing a circle centred at my house, radius FED, there are 23 events done (including a trial), 9 of those only once; 3 events nyd in it.

Not very adventurous compared to you (or many). Not even a trip to England.

That would be something if it was an 80 mile round trip to run there.

Well that Basingstoke chap clearly jumped on the bandwagon after the first 5 events had passed. Pah.
