Gobi - No shower facilities at Victoria Dock parkrun HQ but one of the hotels may be able to provide access to a room. One toilet at HQ. Yes it is flat - my GPS always shows a negative ascent ( mainly due to the signal heading off for a swim ). Paved - with cobbles ( which aren't as bad as they sound ) some of the paving ( the pink bits ) feels quite soft and bouncy - very good to run on. A few bollards and street furniture to avoid - especially if you follow someone who has not run the route before. avoid heading towards the steps that run between the cable car and Good Hotel - stay left on this section on way out and keep right on way back. Horseshoe shaped run - out and back 'long leg' goes along the Excel side of the dock before returning to go out and back along the opposite ( shorter ) side of the Dock. It can be windy - Excel side worse than the other if there is a bit of a breeze. Start has moved in the last few weeks to avoid hitting the bollards early and we run out on the main Dock path now rather than the Crystal path ( will be obvious on the ground ). Finish goes back up towards the Cable car on the main path and then turns to go back on itself along the parallel Crystal Path. Teas self serve post run. If you are there this week, feel free to get mine in as you will finish way before me. ![]() |

Heading to Wales on Friday night but we're splitting the journey and stopping over North West England somewhere - can you recommend a parkrun for me? I have already ticked off Penrith thanks to a Centre Parcs holiday last summer. Thank you x

Deloreanchick - depends how far off the motorway you want to go. If you don't mind heading into the Lakes a bit then Keswick is a nice option in the north or we'd be delighted to see you at Fell Foot in the south. Alternatively, staying closer to the motorway, Lancaster is worth a visit. All three are good: - Keswick is out & back along a disused railway with more climbing than you may expect. - Fell Foot (I'm core team and hence biased) is on the four lap winter route - a bit narrow and twisty in places. We MAY get to go back onto the two lap grass route this week but I'm not putting any money on that (Sod's law says most likely next week when I'm RD - I always get the difficult ones!) - Lancaster is the lumpiest of the three and is two laps with a mixture of terrain. Hope that helps |

Maybe too far south for your holiday plans but Delamere is the crown jewel parkrun in the North West ![]() One lap round a lake with 1km there and back to get to the lake from the run start through the forest. About 15 minutes off the M56 just after Warrington. |
