Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can't quite work out if you're being sarcastic or not there...

In case anybody didn't see it, the bit about pre-event course checking was in the latest volunteer update

"We very rarely add new volunteer roles to WebFMS but Event Day Course Check has been added to the dropdown menu this month. We completely appreciate that teams approach this in different ways depending on their course design and while it is not compulsory to use this role specifically the entire course should be checked before the start of every event."

The wiki also makes clear that this does not have to be a role separate from others. I suspect our approach (already mentioned) of doing a check as part of set-up is going to be the most common.

Anyway - breakfast time - need to be out picking people up soon.

Have a good run everybody :)

We have 2 set up zones and I advise the people doing them to check the paths as they set up. Job done!

Well in that case surely the 'faster' runners are just as likely to come across something in their and not notice it.....me being a slower runner has probably more chance of seeing what's in front of me

Possibly Mike is thinking of people in the more crowded part of the pack? The front is more strung out so a bit easier to see further ahead.

It was a brave effort but didnt make parkrun at Victoria Dock. Sat in Starbucks at the excel drinking coffee instead.

Course check was always done as part of set up.

Basic health and safety, having coached indoors for many years doing a check is a normal thought.

That said the briefing has been. Run at your own risk it is icy as hell out there :-)
