Disappointing last minute cancellation at Crosby this morning due to the weather being precisely as forecast. I know, as a RD myself, how difficult the decision to cancel is (and how we all do everything in our power to get the run on) but I also feel we have a responsibility to make those calls before people start travelling.

That's unfortunate, CumbriAndy, but, based on the riot in the heavens that woke me up around 4am, understandable. Last night: no problem.

Hope you can return and run alongside the Iron Men.

Saw so many friends at the inaugural Crathes Castle parkrun today, they had 238 finishers. It's a great route but will be even better when we can run the actual route rather than the alternate route. They had to change it due to logging work. The brutal uphill finish will always be there though. The cafe ran out of large mugs so I had tea for 2 😃.

Did the test run for a new local event today. Really nice route, some tarmac, some muddy twisty woodland paths.

Although it has 2 loops of one section of the course there isn’t any lapping which is good. The paths might mean it is hard to pass in some spots but it won’t be for long so should be good.

No major issues apart from one sign that went missing caused a few people to run slightly long. Should be rectified by putting a marshal there when they start.

Ran Wetherby this morning as plan C after Fountains Abbey & Harrogate cancelled. To be fair if I hadn't had friends visiting I'd have stayed in bed but what starred as an umpromusing morning turned into a fab morning. The rain stopped about halfway through & we had blue sky & a rainbow & found a fantastic post run cafe. The run itself was 3 laps of a very very muddy & very very windy rugby field so not very inspiring but today was a great example of that parkrun is more than just a run! :)
