Oh dear, why do people have to make life more complicated?
I look after the volunteers rosters for my local parkrun. I answer emails, fill in the volunteer rosters & write D of E Assessment Reports for the youngsters who volunteer. I used to be on the core team committee a few years ago, but I only lasted 18 months. Being an old deafo, I found it hard to follow what was going on. Updating & looking after the rosters is my way of giving something back each week for a free run.
Ive just logged onto the new gmail system. Dear oh dear, Ive now got to sift through the emails & see which one's are applicable to me & which ones need to be answered by those core team members who look after the "office" enquiries.
Why couldn't those in charge at parkrun towers just leave the system as it was. Now the office & volunteer emails are all together, it just makes more work. I know if I emailed in & complained, they would trot out some spiel about it all being streamlined etc & making things simpler, not sure who for though.
Signed. A grumpy old Git.

You can still use it like the old email system. A folder is now a label and you can remove a message from the inbox by archiving it (but it keeps the label). So, the RD for the week can file all emails that are to be dealt with by you by just dragging it to one of the labels on the left hand side and that will remove it from the inbox. In order for you to find your emails just click on the label and all emails in that category will appear.

Does anyone else find that emails they archived have made their way back into the in-box?

I haven't looked yet but it's not great timing for some London parkruns as we're also trying to organise baggage teams for VMLM so there's a lot of email traffic.

Interesting to get an insight into the stuff you have to go through in the core teams... sounds very complicated! Thanks for all you do.
