It seems that where there are two versions of the same incident - like that one, and the one in Bangor that made the paper (slow news day), that RDs will happily take the side of the slower runner. If I was given two versions and asked to take action, I'd call it a draw, and remind folk that the run is for everyone.

I like a parkrun which isn't a stickler for the punctual start (which is pretty much all of them I've attended recently). As Falkirk has the briefing in a different place from the start, it generally takes 3-4 minutes for the crocodile to move and settle into position.

I had moved our briefing to the start line for a few weeks - as the usual briefing takes place about 500m from the start line. We reverted for reasons unknown.

We have been asked by fast runners not to record them as it might make their stats worse on power of 10 or whatever. Tricky when you know who they are, and so could put their name in, but against the rules if they don't have their barcode with them - no barcode no recording.

I'd not add someone to results if I knew them. If they have no barcode, makes it simple.

As for making stats look bad, sure people will know if a fast runner is going full tilt on a parkrun or not. I find it odd folk want to hide a slower time when it'd be pretty clear they were taking it easy. If I saw a sub 16 runner record a parkrun of 22 mins, I would assume they jogged.

A girl from my club was telling me how she had run a sub 25 for the first time ever and I was congratulating her. Then she added, in a disappointed tone "but it wasn't a parkrun". The look I gave her.

Colby was unusually busy due to lots of people being around for other sporting events this weekend and no other parkruns nearby to spread the numbers, and the finish area was a bit of a shambles. For the first time I had someone jump in front of me in the queue and take MY token :-O

eL Bee! spotted a kid who'd walked one lap and another who hadn't even started taking tokens and getting them scanned. Now, THAT is inclusiveness.

I had a pleasant enough run. It's an attractive course. For about half that number of runners.
