I ran Drumchapel last week, which I have been thinking about blogging about (as there were several things, one of which was that I did not enjoy my run at all). My mate was last non-tail-walker (LNTW?) in 41.20. More strikingly, their recent 2nd anniversary event, which had a third-highest turn out of 81, had a LNTW of 35.57 (PB).

In both cases the tail "walker" was just behind, though this week's TW would likely have been a bit adrift had they done the anniversary week.

If I wanted to go for a 5k walk I wouldn’t walk 2 or 3 laps of the park and don’t get why others would. But they probably wouldn’t get why I want to run fast enough to get sweaty and out of breath. Interesting concept that we are all encouraged to use the same event ..... just saying

Sheringham is a lovely course, especially the way the sea and the steam engine come in and out of view as you go round. Full marks if you keep running up the hill at the end.

DocMoye - I have walked my last three parkruns (3 laps of the park) because I am injured. I do it because I still want to see my friends on Saturday morning and go to the cafe afterwards. I wish I could run it at the moment but I can't. I walked it in 43 minutes, would that be acceptable to all of you on here moaning about how long walkers take?
I have volunteered over 50 times so I think I have the right to walk round parkrun if I want to. Do you all need reminding that it is a walk/ run / jog? Everyone is supposed to be welcomed!

In fact it doesn't matter how many times I've volunteered, everyone is entitled to walk round their parkrun.

MRS s

I have volunteered 100s of times and set 3 parkruns up with friends . I have broken my leg twice. Damaged my pelvis and done various other injuries including my recent bike crash.

As I like coffee and the social I volunteered a lot.

I walked from the car.

Some of us rightly or wrongly think it is parkRUN and that walking is something to do at other points in life.

Probably why I won't get a sainthood or a knighthood.

At the end of the day it is just a point of view. No malice or hate I just don't agree with the way it has changed.

If you all don't agree with how it's changed then that's fine, I was merely trying to give you some good reasons why someone might choose to walk parkrun. I've resisted posting on here for a while but it was the last straw today. I don't want to fall out with anyone but we've had this discussion so many times that is boring so can we just agree not to mention it on here again? At least until I'm back running 😉.

I'm not a fan of the walking, much like Gobi. I saw a `parkwalk at parkrun' sign at one of my local events recently and cursed. It doesn't really affect me, unless folk are talking up the entire path

A lot of discussions are done to death here. I have a list of topics I'd like avoided :-)

I still don't see why you need to do parkrun and just volunteer.

Tomorrow I'm going for a run, not bothering with parkrun as I don't like courses near where I am, coffee is not great either :-)

Ps. You can fall out with me, I'm use to it :-)
