Haha...just went onto the PRDG.

Someone on there complaining because the RD accidentally used the word 'race' instead of 'run'.

Seriously, are people THAT pathetic?...it seems that they are!

Andrew65 - I think the OP in that case was fishing - he appears to be a friend of the RD concerned, unfortunately the group does attract a fair deal of people who post 'contentious' things to stir the factions up.

One Belfast event decided to reverse its course recently because those who finished were then walking back down the course to get tea, which is in a bowling club. Runners still to finish were annoyed that those finished were obstructing their run in to the finish. Fair enough. So they reversed the course then announced and repeated - "runners please stay left as you will have people lapping you". Folk at the back were blocking the entire path, and even when faster runners asked politely, they were still shouted at.

It was `stay right', but the point stands. The RD and marshals were asking slower folk to stick to one side, and many chose not to follow that instruction for whatever reaoson, and then act offended at being lapped.

This made the news here last year. It was based on claims rather than anyone witnessing any aggressive behaviour.

It mentions "some more experienced runners yelling at others to get past". Sometimes, when groups are strewn across the entire path, I'll let them know I'm approaching - and you often have to raise your voice as some have earphones in - that's one for another day.

It adds: "Some were really rude and had no regard for plodders" neglecting to say that some plodders are equally as rude.

I experienced it in an actual race one time when lapping someone - I told them "passing on your right please", to which they stopped, turned round and asked me "are you taking the piss"?

As a RD, I remind folk that parkrun is all-inclusive, so please respect everyone.
