Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

First parkrun in ages today.

Never realised Reading had got so big, must have been over 500 runners and very hard to find somewhere to park.

It seems the briefing at the start lasts as long as the run itself. Heard a few mentions of tailwalker, at which point I walked away.

Also it occurred to me that Reading parkrun reflected the ethnic makeup of the town a bit more than it had in previous years, which is good to see. I wonder if this has been a conscious aim of parkrun as it plays the government funding game. I remember doing Peckham Rye parkrun a few years ago and it being far more East Dulwich than Peckham..

Parkrun does tend to be savagely middle class.

Our Olympian didn't turn up, don't know why :-( As far as I know we were supposed to have one but a name had not been confirmed, maybe they heard about the moped muggings in the area and bottled out :-(

maybe a communication mix up? We had a bit of a mix up - managed to sort it in the end. It seemed that the expecting parkrun and Olympian had different information! It was only by luck that I spotted the discrepancy.

New attendance record at Cheltenham today - 575! Pleased to say the new course, though still congested at the start, was loads better than the old course would have been with that number.
