I've been having a bit of a look at that, Jen HB, and I've come to no firm conclusion. Something might turn up in a blog, although given my recent record on blog writing, likely not. Last week's Levengrove was even more striking. It was their 100th event, and attracted 184 finishers. 107 W, 71 M. The median finish time was 31:39. It a course of medium difficulty in a nice park. (This week's median, 29:31.) Their nearest neighbour is Erskine Waterfront, a fairly new flat 2x out and back. Easier, but not as interesting. This week, 88 finishers; 41 W, 40 M, median 28:35. Next nearest is the well-established Linwood. Near flat mainly in scrub woodland, but nicer than that sounds. This week, 130 finishers; 67 W, 61 M, median 27:32 Slightly further, Elder Park, in Glasgow. 4x pancake flat laps in a very ordinary park. Dull, but fast. This week, 117 finishers; 45 W, 65 M, median 25:36. The second-last finisher was 41:29. At that time, Levengrove had 16 to come in this week; Linwood 7; and Erskine 5. Out of those four, Levengrove is by far the hardest course, but with the nicest setting. So, hmm. I'm sure there's a lot could be dug out on the subject, not all of which would be immediately apparent. Anyway, several recent posts, including this one, probably belong on the original parkrun thread, rather than the café thread. In a very belated attempt to be on topic, I'll report that I did visit the café, set just by the start and finish. Quite basic, and small inside, so we sat on the more extensive decking. I had a pretty good flat white, and a reasonable, notably large, scone with jam and butter, for £4.50. |

So sorry to hear that Laura Nuttall, a regular until she was too ill at Pendle parkrun (and a marathon runner at the age of 18!) has died of brain cancer at the age of 23. If you have any spare pennies please donate them to a brain cancer charity. It is one of the biggest killers of people under 40 and receives very little funding. I know there are so many good causes but Laura's story has really touched me. |

Thinking I might head to Eglinton tomorrow, although it's tempting just to go back to Dean Castle because I'm lazy like that.
