Ah! I’ve just looked at Thames Path Woolwich’s course and now I understand!

Apparently Somerdale Pavilion have (jokingly) threatened legal action for breach of copyright Apparently the perceived threat of legal action is why it isn't called "Woolwich Arsenal parkrun". After all, it's a parkrun that starts in Woolwich Arsenal. We were talking to the ED at the test event, and there was some concern from HQ that the kickball team - which is named after The Royal Arsenal, despite not being based there for over a century - have some claim over the word 'Arsenal'.

Actually, it finishes at Woolwich Arsenal but starts in West Thamesmead. I used to live in one of those high rises on Erebus Drive that it starts in front of (relieved we moved long before the whole cladding issue started to make them virtually unsaleable).
We all tried to claim it was Woolwich because (yes, I know), it didn’t sound as bad as Thamesmead.
I know that mound/hill well. It’s good to see a riverside out and back course with a little sting in the tail.

My mistake - I don't know where the territorial borders are that far East 🤣

There is so little banter between parkrun teams on the social mediums, its great to see a parkrun respond to my irreverent nonsense that I post on behalf of my parkrun. Haven't had a post removed by HQ for a while either
Incidentally loads of parkruns are getting their FB sites closed down and it seems to be mostly due to sharing lots of HQ's posts - I can't remember the last time we shared one.

I’m totally for parkrun Facebook pages keeping their content to relate specifically on their own updates.
I follow a few of the local ones and some have had to be unfollowed because they pump out so much repetitive content and also everything that comes from HQ. Luckily Somerdale is still on the good list

That's a nice one, Ally, both in terms of the run and the after run coffee
