P*ssing down with rain here - lovely day for a parkrun! I’m staying local today and hopefully will warm up in the cafe afterwards

I'm heading to Crathes Castle this morning, it's back on after a break. I'm RD next week at the 100th event. Feeling pretty nervous already as I think there is going to be way over 100 people there.

Exmouth was, er, challenging. I love the sensation of rain being blasted into my ears.
Joking aside, I actually enjoyed it. Nice to be back running after a few difficult weeks, and quicker than last week by a minute.

RD at Storey's Field this morning was worried I might not have enjoyed the run because of the weather. Wind and drizzle - I think some folk were not enjoying it but I've had much soggier experiences in the Lakes in July. I scanned after running, usually go "good run?" to folk and they mostly said yes, apart from one 9-ish-year-old who said grumpily "it was cold and it was wet".

Mm I was surprised how little difference the wind was making to my pace going north versus south, but beyond that it was pleasantly cool and a little drizzle, not enough to start worrying about protecting my phone while scanning.

Had to get out early to get to Guildford today to meet a visually impaired runner to guide run with. Only when I got there and meet them he didn't really feel like slogging round a really muddy course in the lashing rain. Fair enough really, it was hard enough being able to see where you were going.

I did get a nice introduction by the ED and as a result three more potential guide runner volunteers. :-)

I'm having another visit to Guildford parkrun tomorrow to possibly guide a VI runner, but the weather looks awful so I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to run through mud and driving rain.

I'll hopefully meet potential guide runners and get to do some of the theory work over at the café.
