Welcome @Rosehip glad to have you on board. @Torque Steer yes I have done Redcar before and recall a long steady uphill section before turning back to the coast. Aquajog sounds tough @alehouse I'm intrigued by your City counting system. Windy Nook parkrun tomorrow. The V60 record is 21 mins but the course is tough. I'll be going for it. |

@Solo, I believe it is the Lake Vyrnmy Half for @Hilly . Hope she finds the time to post…and goes well! Go well tomorrow yourself, @OO61 ! I'm surprised that you are going for a parkrun record today...or perhaps not surprised! re counting…we probably all have difficulty remembering whether we are on lap 11 or 12 of a set of 400s, say; “How many have I done”, we ask ourselves. A swimmer gave me one of the best running tips ever; being a decent 1500 metre swimmer he would swim 60 to 100 lengths every session. “How do you keep track?” I ask. “Easy, he replies, “The first one is A, then B and I go up to T, which is 20. Then I start again. Each 20 lengths has a theme, so countries, cities, girls’ names, boys’ names, flowers, animals. Helps with concentration and reduces monotony!” And it works! |

@alehouse the mentioned lady is doing both 😁 I spoke to her yesterday and sadly says she hasn't got the time to post with all her other commitments. Great way to break the monotony! Hope you had a good parkrun@OO61 and snatched that record! Eight miles completed including a hard effort parkrun. I know it doesn't count but today I got a 90.04 parkrun wava. Cooler conditions and a SB of 21.15 at Norwich. Really pleased as lots of miles in the legs this week already. Still 5 seconds away from the course record though 😁 |

Belated welcome and happy birthday @Rosehip. @Welshpoppy - 1 deg! Yikes, you are only a couple of weeks post summer... @Hilly and @OO61 hope the HM goes well for you both. @Solo nice to get a solid 10 hours night's sleep once in a while, especially with load of running coming up this weekend. @PeterFay looks a nice spot for running. @Canute, wouldn't be too concerned about the loss of fitness. Inevitable. You still seem to be making good progress. The fitness will follow. @Torque Steer. Still no email letter from the hospital with details. Amazing really, especially since I now have only about a weeks worth of medication left. No follow up from the hospital at all so far! At least my GP was able to confirm the diagnosis of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), which I had guessed it was based on web searches. He didn't have the hospital letter either but was able to access the lab test results. Has provided a prescription for the medication (Creon) so that is now sorted. Also got him to refer me to a specialist (private gastroenterologist). Have that appointment in about two weeks so should learn more then. Also hopefully an investigation into the cause of the EPI. GP did arrange blood tests, including one related to pancreatic cancer and one for coeliac antibodies. Thankfully all results were normal! The Creon seems to be working reasonably well - except one occasion when missed (forgot to take to a restaurant)! Need to take it with every meal, which keeps me on my toes. Alas seems likely a rest of life thing 😕. At least running not affected. No run today as pressure on to get the tree roots removed for planting the camelia (the job I didn't finish last weekend!). Fairly heavy work despite resorting to using a chainsaw for the largest roots (blunting the chain in the process). Doubt it would have been possible for me to get the large ones out without the chainsaw. Absolutely knackered earlier this evening. Now better though. |

@Solo, great result, if frustratingly just short of the F60 course record.

thanks @NZD that looks like a job and a half - I have similar to do, removing two old conifer stumps that refuse to rot down (the trees were cut about 10 years ago) and have been putting it off. 45 minute continuous 'run' today. Trying to run easy without plodding and ignoring what my hr says, but it is still really slow. |

Great that you have a definitive and effective solution @NZD Go easy with those roots. Fantastic running solo especially the parkrun. That's a top tip Alehouse, I use my watch for swimming but counting would be very challenging. What did you get up to today? Windy Nook is a trail parkrun. 3 laps with lots of hills and a staircase on each lap- but scenic and enjoyable. I cut almost a minute off the v60 record today with 20:16, which was a pleasant surprise. The young chap who came 1st was slower than me at the GNR last week but I think this course favours younger legs. Planning a long one tomorrow, my last 20 before Chester in 3 weeks. Well done Rosehip that sounds promising |
