Fear is a strange thing and often defies logic. However when someone like DT is open and honest it helps to demystify things and that can only help. Thanks DT

Thanks again to all the Fetchies who’ve posted supportive responses to my blogs (and taken the time to sent private messages). It appears quite a few of you hang around here, which is a relatively new thread for me

When I was diagnosed I was determined that I wasn’t going to feel sorry for myself and if I could persuade one person who might have been afraid to seek help that would be good. My mum grew up in the time of the big C and not talking about things. That time is thankfully now gone for most people

As a man of a certain age going to the loo more frequently is fairly inevitable but I had another symptom associated with prostate cancer so I thought I should get it checked out. The PSA test came back today after the digital exam and it seems I’m in “normal” shape and no further testing is needed 😀

I'm probably odd but I've got a photo of my tumour on my phone. When people say that they're not going to have an over 55's colonoscopy or play poo sticks, I show it to the numpties

Good news macca and good work Darlo. I’ve never spent so much time wandering about shirt off as I do now, ‘would you like to see my scar?’

That’s good news macca.

Strange Darlo should mention photo images. I went for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm scan on Monday, which I’m pleased to say I passed with flying colours.
I happened to mention to the nurse who did the test, that my eldest daughter is a doctor at Addenbrookes & that she likes to keep an eye on her dear old dad. So the nurse invited me to take a couple of photos of the scan with my phone.
Don’t worry, I won’t post it on here, it’s not that exciting.

I really don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t take advantage of all the checks offered, poo sticks is such an easy and painless test unlike mammogram but that’s worth the discomfort as early detection can save lives, why wouldn’t you??

(My next mammogram appointment has just come through)

My last mammogram was a few days ago. I've been sent poo sticks since my 60th birthday, and I also attend for smear tests, eye tests and dental checks. As above, the risk of late diagnosis outweighs any embarrassment or discomfort so I'd echo the comments above.
