The guy I refer to is one of the most grounded and level-headed people I know. He also played sport at a decent level. I don’t understand his position except he’s one of the few (two or three) people I’ve spoken to this year who hasn’t lost a loved one, or who at least doesn’t know someone who’s been affected by cancer. Otherwise maybe you’re into self-esteem / mental health areas
I thought when I was much younger (and single) that there could be something quite noble about fading away quietly with a fatal disease. I doubt I’ve ever been so wrong (terminal cases of untreatable illnesses excepted). My mantra is I’m too young, enjoy my life too much and have too many friends, allies, loved ones (including my wife, who said simply but powerfully if you die I don’t want to live without you) to simply give in

Cancer is pretty rife in my family. Having lost two sisters and a brother to it, all younger than me, I take advantage of all tests going. It still crept up on me. Today I''ve had a squamous skin cancer ripped out of my Rt ear and a square inch of skin from my neck grafted in its place. I'm feeling a bit sore as I type this but glad the darn thing has gone.

Don’t know if you remember but we met once by the bridge at Starbottom, maybe 6 or 7 years ago - I was with Stef my wife and recognised you from your blog

We currently have a free NHS service that offers these tests for free and people still won't have them done for whatever senseless reasons. If we had to pay I suppose I can understand people not having the tests but when they're free!!!

Hope you heal well and quickly RF.
Some scary but also inspiring stuff on here from the last few days. Food for lots of thought.
