When I were a lad, I used to look forward to bank holidays for Disney Time and a good film on TV.
Now itโ€™s a case of not going anywhere if I can avoid it because everyone else is out on the roads.

Said goodbye to NHS dentist when my dentist chose to offer private treatment only. We went with him.
As for Bank Holidays Eynsham Red...in my younger days and into the mid 1970's Bank Holidays WERE holidays for just about everyone. None of the almost universal shop/store openings of today. They were days of relaxation and relative contentment, ok there were the beginnings of traffic chaos when people headed to the coast on the occasions the weather was warm but there was less pressure. I don't think that the availability of so much so often has improved anyone's quality of life. The pervasive anxiety/depression/ fed upness/ and over indulgence in alcohol and substances in society is maybe testament to that.

My dentist when I first moved here was a Mr Butcher...... :-)

He moved on, and his replacement promptly put a filling in which continued to ache for the next month, and in the end the tooth had to be extracted.

He then did something virtually identical to MrsMMM 3 months later.

We moved Practice. Still with the same NHS Practice 25 years later, having seen many more dentists come and go. Some of them have learned English whist practicing!

I think it must be an age thing, as there is no way that I would venture out on the roads nowadays on Bank Holidays. The thought of sweating in lengthy queues of traffic, and then driving round and round looking for a parking space, fills me with horror.

I'm Spoilt too - Having worked shifts for a long time, its disconcerting when the masses are cluttering up the place mid-week.

Having said that - happily my rest week coincides with half term so were having a family cinema outing

I stick to living places with few people. Minimises the traffic chaos. If the weather in the far north was like today more often we'd have crowds clamouring to move here, but there isn't much chance of that!

Friends were telling me last night that their daughter had just passed her final dentistry exam at Glasgow, my alma mater. She was born a decade after I qualified!
