Fenland Flier
Thanks everyone.
Flatlander I DID have a good year but I've not been running long so improvements SHOULD come.
Sharkie I'm NOT belittling my achievements but don't believe a 'novice' like me should earn the MotM honour, as I said above I SHOULD be improving.
57.5 Lol, I'm sure there are many others in here that have flown that flag including Sharkie, Flatlander, Mrs JIgs, Columba and Canute to name just a few As for the fens well Flatlander, Fenners and myself can fly that flag now
Thanks again everyone.

Well done FF. Yes, you can expect to improve, but you are nonetheless a very worthy ‘flag flyer’. You persisted despite the set-back due injury a year or so ago, and at all times you have engaged with the Fetch community in a generous spirited manner .
Sharkie, well done with the repeated 85% WAVA performances; great photo

Well done FF and great photo Sharkie.
Looked out of the window, resisted the temptation to stay indoors and have just got back from a 4.5ml run in the wind and rain. Would have been very easy to put off today's run ..

Congratulations FF, and an impressive photo Sharkie. I ran 12.1 miles in the forest this morning in atrocious conditions. Very strong, icy wind, deep squelchy mud, and thin layers of ice on the puddles and deeper water. There was a white swan on one of the flooded fields during my Thursday run. Taking a well needed rest day tomorrow. Several of my club mates are partaking in the Bramley 20 miles road race tomorrow.

It was indeed a miserable day here wasn't it Mel - well done on getting out!
12 miles in those conditions is proper hardcore running Hillstrider!

I've done a lamentable amount of my running on the treadmill this year, though I did manage to snatch some dry weather and do a seven mile outdoor run on Thursday evening.
When I finished my treadmill run this evening it was raining so hard that I almost closed the garage door again and got back on the treadmill rather than walking up the garden path and getting soaked. But I knew there was pizza in the house and hadn't taken my 'phone out to the garage so I couldn't text eL Bee! or VP and ask them to bring it out to me.
I did the Bramley 20 in, I think, 2004. I had a right 'mare and should really have quit at 10. A delightful young man I knew from the RW forums stayed with me all through the second lap, which was slightly embarrassing because my 'mare was of the intestinal variety and I had to keep diving into the bushes.

I think runners always assume that another runner wants company. I often don't want company, whether a run is going well or badly. A social run is a different matter but in a race (or even parkrun) I generally prefer not to talk. If I was having intestinal issues I would have to say very firmly to any would-be companion, please go away. 'Don't let me spoil your race'

23-minute run in the Weather. Hardly compares with HS's 12 miles, nor WtnMel's 4.5, but made me feel Bold and Virtuous anyway.
Nearly always run on my own, and don't feel the need of company.

I nearly always run alone, apart from club interval training. Races are different though, I'll happily chat to other runners, although we're rarely together long enough to have conversations.
