Just managed my longest OW swim, 2 miles. It was lovely, I was a bit surprised to get rained on today.

Yes we had the briefest of showers here too but it's still horribly humid.

Did anyone else do the Bantham Swoosh yesterday?
Was my first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, would totally recommend

Glad you enjoyed it. :-) I’ve done it twice (2018,2019). Did the Boomerang this year and volunteered at the Swoosh (registration tent).

I can't say I would massively recommend the Boomerang...it wasn't all bad by any means...the wait all day was a bit hard...but the main psychological difficulty for me was swimming upstream to no fixed point in space....and not even a definitely fixed point in time. Turning at tide turn, you have a little while of slack and then I felt like a meerkat, popping up to see if anyone was turning yet...what about now? Now? And then eventually turning.

It would have helped to have a few km marker buoys out, at least I could have aimed for 2km to turn, I think that probably would have been doable.

My head was definitely not in a great place due to personal stuff admittedly, which didn't help my forward momentum.

I don't think it would be too hard to do both, my boomerang was 1hr 20 (a faster swimmer would have had a longer swim...I was near the back getting in and one of the first out), my swoosh (2019) was about 1hr25. We certainly had a good number of double dippers at registration on Saturday morning.

Swoosh sounds nice.

I think I would have felt the same as you about the Boomerang

Sorry it wasn't a more fun experience for you, and hope your head gets to a better place soon
Interesting to hear how you found it - some food for thought there

Went for a wee dip tonight. Water was lovely. Location too.
