I've been swimming in the heated lido* and was nervous about getting back in a lake. So I signed up for a local intro to OW swimming. It was brilliant, went in for 25 mins in skins, and if I'd gone alone I'd have put up with my crap wetsuit. Now feel confident enough to go to the lake on my own next weekend.

*I think swimming - lido might need a separate training category

Ten minute dip in the sea this morning. Not breathtakingly cold, but ten minutes was enough for my hands. Really enjoyed it though :-)

I tried my wetsuit on the other day, with the intent of trying to go for a swim this weekend. I just about poured myself into it...but couldn't get out of it. In the end, I had to wait for my wife to get home to help me escape....

Sushi.
I'm hoping the water is a little warmer tomorrow. It was back down to 12 last weekend and Id like it around 15 to ditch the wetsuit and a 17-18 to ditch gloves and socks.

I wear my shortie wetsuit ('suitable for surfing and body-boarding; not suitable for long distance swimming or triathlons' when I bought it for £29.99 in the Mountain Warehouse sale two years ago) until it gets a bit warmer. I just can't get the zip done up on my proper wetsuit without help.

Andy, if that happens again get in the shower or run a bath, it's much easier to get out of a wetsuit under water!

Sushi.
I know where I swim is shallow but it had warmed up 4c to 16c from last weekend.

Ditched the wetsuit but not the gloves and socks.

Was in just short of 50 mins.

They had an extra safety boat out today to monitor and protect the swans.

They have a whole load of signets so we're getting a but angry and hissing at swimmers.

Must be quite threatening for them having so many people splashing about.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
