Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me dropping in, I'm just getting back into open water swimming having given it a go a couple of years ago and not really enjoyed it, but seem to be really loving it this time round, (providing I don't stop to think about the inhabitants of the water for too long!)

Problem is at the moment I am making a 3 hour round trip to swim, which means I can't do it often :( I don't suppose anyone knows of a nice, safe, not too fishy spot in the forest of dean?

And I am pleased to see others have similar problems with their watches, I thought it was just me! Naughty Nickers and I both have the same Garmin, and hers logged fine (as a walk) mine, point blank refuses! logs virtually nothing, if any distance at all! :(

And shoes, I wear Hot Tuna neoprene shoes, cost £2.50 in sports direct! I run in them too! :)

Worth joining the outdoor swimming society group on FB and asking the same thing. There are often closed swimming groups that have some great spots that they don't want to be widely shared publicly but are willing to share with locals...our local group is called the flOUSEies and we have a closed group...but that closed group is expanding rapidly...

Hi Em. I’ve swim in the Wye at Kerne Bridge, Lower Lydbrook and upstream of the Saracen’s Head at Symond’s Yat. Obvs depends on water levels but there’s some good deep pools and (at LL particularly) chances to “endless pool” it using the current.

Need to watch out for canoeists and, around SY, pleasure boats. Nice if you find a quiet pool though.

BE, do you have autopause set on? My swimming is too slow to register if it's on.

Cleared in time. Start was delayed by an hour, and we had to stick to the short loop, but it was perfect!

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
