Having been on the backburner for a few years Chevin Forest Park (Otley, near Leeds) has finally got funding - as posted by the ED on a closed Otley FB page and now looking for volunteers/core team members to come forward - the screenshot being shared to my club FB page. It'll be a nice hilly run on wide trail paths - my sort of run! :-)

That sounds lovely, MT - a bit like Oakwell Hall? A bit far from Holmfirth for regular visits but I'll try to get over once at least.

Penistone's almost on my doorstep too - I wonder if that"ll ease the pressure on Huddersfield a bit (until richmac's super secret parkrun comes around)...

More forestry and less facilities than Oakwell Hall Dooogs - based on my assumption on a probable route. There was a short-lived free Sunday timed run a few years back that was c3 miles so I'm assuming a variation of that.

Hi all,
Can anyone advise if there are any new parkruns coming to the south west of England over the next few months? Myself and a colleague are going to do a parkrun tour of the south west over the winter and we were wondering if there were any new ones popping up anytime soon.

I lived on Aberbeeg Road and then moved to Six Bells a bit later when I was a kid WildeRover, I can't figure out where the parkrun will be at all! Unless it's down by the Guardian statue at the base of the Valley...

There is an off-road cycle path that has been built through the area. It runs from near the railway bridge in Aberbeeg, mostly parallel to Victoria Rd, past the back of Six Bells Community Centre, then carries on up towards Abertillery. I would guess, based on on the look of it that it is a converted old railway line. You can also cross from there into the parklands with the Guardian Statue.

By hook or by crook, there is enough space between those two to fit a parkrun in. It feels as though the bulk would be Six Bells rather than Aberbeeg. Problem is that I'm not sure where you would park more than about 25 cars - unless new parking areas have been created in the last couple of years.

Looks like it is out and back, from Aberbeeg, up the new cycle path (which I think is an old railway line) through Six Bells to just shy of Abertillery and back. 2.5km uphill drag going out, 2.5km gentle downhill coming back.

Interesting re: Myrtle - will become my NENYD for a few weeks. Meanwhile for those commenting on Aberbeeg - parkrun.org.uk

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
