Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

While we are at it, the rules also say....

The name should reference the smallest identifiable, geographical area in which the event takes place. i.e. the name of the park or open space should be used wherever possible

In the majority of cases, the location should be easily found using online mapping tools as a

location name without the word parkrun.

Names known only to locals should be avoided.

The name must not be influenced by or contain third parties (organisations, company names or local authorities).

Care must be taken that the web address works, so occasionally event names may be re-jigged to accommodate this.

"Names known only to locals should be avoided"

Hence why the run to the West of Hull is called Anlaby Park parkrun.

Oh, hang on, no it isn't...

Penistone (Edge of Peak District/West of the M1 in Barnsley District) have a test run to sort out a feasible route next Saturday (13/10). I'd imagine it may well be an out and back on the Transpennine Trail/disused railway line.

Very good, dvorak. What other parkruns would be in that challenge? No shortage of mouths - Exmouth, Bournemouth etc. or heads - Hazlehead, Maidenhead. Armley. Fell Foot. Lee on the Solent. Heartlands or Heartwood Forest (both count twice). Bedgebery Pinetum. Cassiobury.

Where else?

:-) Good list.

Stonehaven. (Ear)Drumchapel.

Livingston and Peebles (tbc) would only be near misses, I reckon.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
