They got a bit overwhelmed event 2 instead.
But unless you get a very marginal increase in field for say 6months until full capacity is reached that's always going to happen with such a well known much anticipated event.

Broad as it's long innit really - pretty sure the core team all know what they are doing at event 1 - it's not bleedin rocket science

Kev, I’m guessing you haven’t volunteered at an inaugural with a 1000 people at it. We once got 2x at a NYD Double after being in existence for 6 months - it was carnage.

That sounds hideous @chunkywizard

@kevchenko it may not be "bleeding rocket science" but core teams take a while to learn how to do a smooth event.

It's also not rocket science to adhere to polite requests to not publicise or swamp inaugurals to fulfil your own selfish cravings. Some idiots do.

We thought we had it down pat then 600 people arrived. We ran out of tokens, funnel was too short, Finish Token volunteer got stressed out etc. We'd cope better now.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
