Following an explicit request from the core team and the local ambassador - I've been going out of my way not to tell anybody about Ulverston. Please respect their wishes for a soft start - the local council are nervous enough, we don't want to scare them into withdrawing what good will has been gained to date.

Don't think you can - and apologies if my post came across a little harsh.

My request for respect of the team's wishes is aimed generally rather than at any specific individual - and it's not as though anybody really looking isn't going to find what they want through other sources.

You're not alone in reflecting disappointment that it's not going to be a 'U' for alphabet seekers.

I'm ok for the alphabet but having a U to visit in the North West would help my children get there eventually. The one at Ulverston was mentioned when I visited Barrow a few months back in my NW quest, will give me a chance to look round Furness Abbey properly (everyone was asleep by the time we got there last time). I hope Bodelwyddan has a smooth start as I know that's taken a while to get started too, plus it's a 10 minute walk from my house. I look forward to finding start dates for all 3,then finding a suitable time to visit.

Dishley Loughborough has lift off! A successful inaugural attended by about 200. It only took 5 years to bring parkrun to the town.

Why would you want to delete a post about an inaugural parkun in the "Inaugural parkruns (post them here!) thread? ;-)

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
