Thanks, I wasn’t there and claim no part of this personally but my friends have been among those who have been working towards this for so many years, so I was happy to hear it went well.

Well done to your friends in that case Becca. I run at Rushcliffe and we have always got loads of folks from the Loughborough area so I’m sure that it will draw off quite a few which is no bad thing. Hope that the “no overtaking zone” worked OK, it clearly didn’t impede the young student flying round in mid-16s |

Hi Parrkrunny people im after some advice. Im going to start a monthly event along the lines of kids run free but without all of the setup fees needed, it wont be in competition with parkrun or kids run free but will be open to the whole community to get them all moving. Run by our younger athletes to give them something to put on their c.v's/help with the duke of edinburgh awards. My query is do I need a race permit seeing as its not a race with no results or insurance , just wondering what parkrun does for insurance. |

It does this wiki.parkrun.com which looks like parkrun Global now has its own all-encompassing insurance. Previously, it was via UK Athletics. If you want to see the history of it, you can click on "view history" at the top right of each wiki page. |

Hi wildebeast - I'd check on the insurance, lack of public liaibility insurance could be a problem, even if your participants (via parents) signed a waiver, that only covers them, if one of them runs into an elderly dog walker (for example), that could cause problems. If you can find a sympathetic local organization and operate under their umbrella they could write you into their insurance, which is what I have done with a couple of charity fundraising runs in the past. Good luck to you.

Good luck Keighly! We've got a practice event this Saturday for a new one in Fife (I won't say which, because I don't know if they want too many folk turning up. You can have such a thing as too much practice!) Exciting. Don't know when it will launch thereafter. Is it usually the very next week, or do they take a few weeks to "learn lessons" and make any changes required? It won't be my local, but it will be my club's local! Parkruns must now be more numerous and hence closer to home, than running clubs. Does that sound right? G |

You've made it very hard to guess :-)G ;-). It won't be the next week if they have any sense, and most places afaik have a couple of practices but it will mainly depend on hq giving them a date.
