I find cossack squats pre lifting really helps stretch and activate my adductors and opens your hips too

I just had to look up cossack squats, Brig! Bit like (but not the same as ) deep side lunges yeah?

I've only ever been taught very basic lifts. I think they're probably all I need for my athletics ... but a bit of variety can be nice!

While Raptor Knitted Socks by Night
My lower abdomen has, predictably, started to ache a little this evening. However, I suspect by tomorrow it will pale into insignificance beside the way my legs will feel after waking up the treadmill.

Interesting, Brig - sports massage guy suggested a similar stretch for my adductors, but not quite so deep, and with a kettlebell held to the chest for some extra weight. Didn't feel my right adductor as obviously as previous sessions - PT thought I was sitting too far back in the squat, and hingeing hips too much before knees, which was putting extra pressure on them.

My abs were in bits after using the cable machine for oblique side choppers last weekend! I love weighted suitcase carries for ab work - walking around with a 20kg kettlebell, before swapping it to the other hand. Arms and chest still haven't quite forgiven me after upper body either!

I used a Kettlebell to help me get in to the squat at first but now can manage them without (unless I feel really tight)

Getting the squat right is hard isn't it! I was going to deep initially bit my last session felt super good!

I have a little pre lifting mobility thing I do now which I quite enjoy and feels beneficial so will continue whilst it works

Other BIG thing for me right now... SIDE PLANKS

Horrible and awesome

You do some very comprehensive workouts i-w. Impressive! Have weights become your main sport/exercise thing?

I love (well that's perhaps too strong a word) side planks! So much less boring -and whisper it - easier - than front planks.
