It IS a bit harder if you are older don't forget, Brig!

That's why I like the strength standards thing Duracel found us - see right. >

It's like WAVA for lifters! You can also put your body weight in which makes it fairer.

PT has me doing a lot of plyo/mobility work in our weekly session, which I enjoy and feel it helps all round.

Thank you! Sharkie - weights and gym work has become the main thing at the moment, as have been struggling to get out running. Would love to get back to ultras, but just don't have time or motivation at the moment. Miss kettlebells classes, but gym only does a couple a week now, so haven't been in months.

I'm still half-thinking about aiming for a powerlifting competition next year, when I find out the dates of any local ones...

IW - Re the comp, go for it. Sure it'll be fun, MSC has got a few members of varying standards that compete and they love it.

Congrats on the squat PB.

Oh my legs! And I only did some Bulgarian split squats with little weights 😂

My new gym is making me laugh - we have grunters galore and lots of men who live up to the 'forgot leg day' stereotype...

They're killers aren't they, those Bulgarians! I can only manage 4kgs or fewer reps with 5kgs at the heaviest.

Have already boasted on Over 50s thread and via two blogs - so ta V-rap and idle-wilder for nice comments, and do skip to next page!

Yesterday at Lee Valley I managed two PBs.

But first I stole your squats session, Brig. As you can read on my blog I had to go lighter and fewer reps than you, although I very much kept the principle. *bows to Brig's superior strength*

THEN
All the upper body work I've done at home with dumbbells seems to have paid off at last and I got up to 4 reps with 25kgs. BIG improvement - 8 reps at 20 actually almost felt easy for the first time ever.

Next I had a go at my Deadlift PeeB. Am proud to report I have finally lifted just over my bodyweight - this has long been a target for me.

So from the previous best of 2 x 4 x 47.5 straght to 4 reps at 50 ... and then 3 at 52.5kg
I weigh 51 so hurrah for me!

*curtseys*

*make that curtsey squats left and right*

Well done Sharkie! medal

If I wanted to lift my body weight, I'd have to try and halve it first. ;-)

... a weights wire for women.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.

Here's a strength standards for women thing Duracel found for us
