D'you know those things where you look at the diagrams/photos of immaculate bikini-clad ladies/Green Goddess videos and think, "Doddle! That's just lifting and lowering your legs."
Them.
I'm hoping they haven't got me in the quads, because I'm planning to wake up the treadmill tomorrow.

If you lie on your front then lifting your legs is hard work I find. Gets the gluts and hammies.
Ah... but I think you might mean what is (ludicrously) called a 'Teaser' in Pilates. V-sits?

V-sits look a few notches up the difficulty scale from what I was attempting to do.
Something to aspire to

V sits and hollow body holds are quite wretched but I aspire to the .
Sharkie, my squat depth is to my safe limit (just prior to the butt wink moment) which is currently just hips below knees or parallel
A lot of runners don't like the idea of weight gain bit you gotta suck it up of you want a bit of muscle!
How I feel about my body now is the best I have ever felt about it (and I always quite liked it)

Eerk - have just noticed that pic is EIGHT years ago! Am a bit naughty and do far less abs stuff now I don't teach/do Pilates any more.
I sort of hope the 4 or 5 lbs I seem to be stuck with are muscle, Brig. My legs are VERY solid!

kwala - if you are anything like me, yes that first one back is killer DOMS ... and then nothing much however hard I work. (Or perhaps I don't work hard enough!)
Anyway congrats for getting back to it!

There may be sure some weight gain from lifting weights but that isn't the point for running. The point is the neuromuscular system (recruiting more of your muscle fibres, recruiting them quicker, coordination, etc) rather than muscle hypertrophy.

Did my 3RM squats this morning at 72.5kg - wasn't pretty, but it's done! Had kind of hoped for 75kg, but even 65-70kg was hard in warm up. Did some extra adductor work before, and was trying to keep in mind the things PT said last week (he's off for December). Will head to gym tomorrow and try some paused squats, deadlifts and maybe thrusters, if I get a bar.
