Velociraptor
I'm giving up squats again, for the millionth time. You'd think I'd learn that they just suck the springs out of my legs. I'll keep doing a bit of upper body and midsection work for vest-wearing vanity reasons.

They do trash your legs V but I find them so beneficial

Whereas to me that's a non-sequitur, Brig.
I'm just a snowflake

[Or even an oxymoron - the thing about the squats, I mean, not me.]

Early bird - goblet squats really help get the right position don't they. Hard work but worth it. Gymfreak - I tried GRIT once - never again - really tough! Velociraptor - I have a love/hate relationship with squats - hate doing them (and the DOMS afterwards) but love how strong they make my legs which has helped me up the hills (a lot of those around here!)

You're hardly a snowflake, V'rap! I'm going to try incorporating the paused squats into a weekly gym session, and maybe bring back the double-paused deadlifts as well. Speaking of squats - does anyone want to buy a copy of 'The Squat Bible'?? OH bought me a copy for xmas, but I had already bought myself a copy on Amazon lol.
Think back will be a little stiff after deadlifts and good mornings today (a 'used' stiff, rather than painful) - managed 4RM of 80kg, followed by another 3 sets at 70kg

Bloody Hell IW, that's going some!
Squats are my bete noir too and the reason why I gave up the weight lifting PT a while back.
Hope you can get the strength back eventually GF, take it slowly though.

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’d probably like squats better if my shoulders coped with the weight of the bar better. I’ve got a padded thingy now (thanks Sharkie!) which helps to a certain extent but my shoulders still ache.

When I first started doing weighted squats the bar was straight on to bone as I had no padding! Now, after 9 months of shoulder and back exercises I have enough of a muscle pad to make the bar more comfortable 😃
