Mine were all relatively compact - the smallest was 6lb 15oz, the biggest was 7lb 8.5oz. Plenty big enough for me!

Today I got this in the post http://www.debbieblissonline.com/Book.asp?bid=47. It's second hand but perfect, and has lovely uncomplicated patterns, though a lamentable number of them are for Aran yarn.

My first baby was 5lb13. She was swamped in newborn clothes! She was a bit cold and wore a little white hat my mum had knitted (trying to keep to thread topic ;))

One of the babies on the cover of that book looks identical to my neighbour's daughter when she was younger! Lovely patterns :-)

My daughter was 9lb. I was 9lb 5oz so maybe it runs in the family!

I saw these, SK, and thought the dogs were better than the cats :)

(Suspect they're not actually difficult, just very fiddly.)

I had another minor scribble moment with a skein of Mirasol Lachiwa yesterday, having decided that I *had* to try one of the Debbie Bliss patterns and it seemed to be the right sort of not-quite-DK weight. It's delightful to knit with :)

But seriously, for the veteran de-skeiners - should I be able just to hang the skein up and roll it smoothly into a ball (in which case I'm doing something wrong) or are some tangles inevitable?
