I learned both about a year apart - knitting first, then crochet. I knit regularly but need a refresher course from a book every time I want to crochet anything simple! I can crochet seams to join knitting together.

Help sewers! I’m sewing sweatshirt material so am using a stretch stitch. I now want to sew the zip in. So… carry on with the stretch stitch or use a straight one?

I would go with straight. The material on the zip won't be able to stretch anyway.

I'm a newbie knitter, may I poke my head in here? Been learning since September or so and have completed a few hats, a waistcoaty thing and currently working on a sweater vest. If anyone is on Ravelry also I would love to be your friend on there:

ravelry.com

The sweater vest is my biggest project in lightest weight yarn to date and I am quite slow so will be working on it for a while yet. After that maybe socks...I have peeked the lovely socks on this thread and have a hankering for some 👀
