Has anyone made a travellers journal? Think that’s what they are called ... where several different small notebook are bound together as one?

If I have a budget of £250 for a sewing machine what would you suggest?

I have a basic Husqvarna which has served me well over 25+ years but now the balance wheel keeps dropping off, which is very annoying. I have a separate overlocker too but if there was a decent machine in that price bracket which could overlock as well as do straight stitch I'd definitely consider it. Stretch stitch would be a bonus; more complicated things like embroidery I'm not so bothered about.

(Am assuming you know that I mean by the balance wheel - the thing you use manually to move the needle if you need to.)

I have a computerised Janome - 601XL - I think they’re a bit more, around £350. I love it to bits

I could go to that for the right thing. Brand-wise was thinking Bernina, Janome or Brother. Basically I'd like something I can use to finish woven seams neatly (more neatly than zigzag) so that I don't have to have two machines out at the same time if I want to do a "proper" job. (And things not dropping off will be a definite bonus.)
