Lovely runnyeyes :)

Sk I wholeheartedly recommend janome. :) I don't know if there are any machines that do proper overlocking and 'normal' sewing, but there are machines with an overlock/overcast type stitch, that have a straight edge coupled with a diagonal that'd work to stop fraying.

Also automatic button holder and standard zip foot came with it as well as a quilting table and walking foot.
I needed to buy a concealed zip foot as an extra

I think there's been a bit of a run on sewing machines recently - lots unavailable on Amazon (I've not looked elsewhere yet). A professional friend (works in theatres on costumes) has a Bernina but recommended Janome too, also John Lewis own brand (probably made by a well known manufacturer).

Definitely sallykate. I struggled to get one. John Lewis completely sold out. I looked on the Which report and Bernina were top for brand loyalty ( would buy same again question) but they are very expensive. Janome were top with all things considered. Avoid Singer Apparently new machines are dreadful.

And .... I’d been given all that advice by our very own Purps anyway.
