We have to knit swatches first to see if we want to do the whole stocking. The needles are actually 0.7mm. We're testing if the silk is gummed or ungummed as well. It isn't spun, just a fine floss. The first test groups took 5 hours to knit their 5 x 5 cm test squares, so the stockings will be lots of work. Must get on and finish the WIPs I have now.

Yes, the needles sound painful...having used 2mm and thinking them quite small to knit with. It sounds very labour intensive with unspun silk.

I like doing dainty knitting, but my upper body is going tense just thinking about that project, icemaiden.

I prefer thin yarn and needles to thick, but my hand wouldn't cope with that at all unfortunately

Interesting project, icemaiden, but I'd need a magnifying glass to be able to see those stitches on 0.7mm needles!

Does anyone right handed knit continental style? Yarn in left hand as opposed to British 'throwing' from the right hand. What's the best way to do purl for stocking stitch if you knit continental style?
