Must find the Winnie the Pooh cross-stitch I started when in hospital with mini1 (she's 12!). Might take it to Lakes with me this weekend...

Might end up making a lace tablecover, Spinkle. Although it's very fine, it's not quite cuddly enough to make a shawl. What I was hoping was that it would be suitable for making a next-to-skin garment for winter running and cycling.

Right, I had to go and Google skein and am now much enlightened :)

I shan't be taking up knitting in a hurry though, but my brief foray into this thread has been interesting! And if anyone wants to knit me some socks, a warm winter jumper or arm warmers for cycling? Please don't hesitate! My favourite colour is orange. I bet you can get skeins of that cheap ;)

lol hann.

i don't like skeins, too much like hard work making them into balls. why don't they do that for you?

i''ve made a start on a teddy bear - a pretty one with paw pads n stuff. never done anything like this before so quite excited. had to do kfb for the first time ever :-o

I had a minor disaster on the knitting front last night! I'd got a pair of little baby leggings all ready to be sewn up. I'd knitted them on sticks but in one piece so that there would only be a seam at the back and on the inside legs. I stitched the back seam beautifully, keeping the colours aligned and tidying off, securing and cutting all the ends as I went, and only when I was on the ankle-cuff did I realise that I'd turned it into a garment for a baby mermaid.

There was no way of unpicking and redoing it because I'd been so meticulous about tidying as I went along. It had to go in the bin.

On the upside, the matching angel top is rather sweet and I now have a prototype for wavy-stitch leggings!

Started a tea-cosy using a double strand of 4-ply acrylic. Even with a dense cable pattern it'll take no time at all :)

One for me and one for the Frog Prince ;)

I did have to laugh. I *could* laugh because I hadn't used fancy expensive yarn - baby stuff needs to be disposable and low-maintenance if it's intended for wearing rather than just cooing at.

Can't believe how small teapots are! I've brought one to work with me today because it's apparently the same size as the one I'm making a coat for. I think the only tricky bit will be getting the hole for the spout the right size.
