It's all about transport museums for the boys with some longish train journeys in between so I'll need my knitting. Looking forward to it I think.

Which is better for knitting socks on the move, magic loops, one very small needle or two shortish needles? I usually use dpns. I don't want any wooden or bamboo tips as they break when sat on.

I now use magic loop, but have previously used 2 small circulars. They travel very well- I always have a pair of socks in my bag to do at lunchtime at work.

I use addi too

Btw if I had in the region of £100 for a beginner friendly sewing machine what would you go for? Janome are supposed to be good and brother I hear but not singer who I had always thought were the best?!?!

And approx how much is a machine service? Mum says I can have her old Jones machine but would it be worth buying new by the time I've had it serviced!?! Not been touched for 30 + years so I assume a service would be a good idea!

V'rap did you add the skirt to the knitting folder in Dropbox? Just tried looking for it and I couldn't see it either EP, and when I tried to add a file the other day I realised I hadn't put it in the knitting folder, so although it was on my Dropbox I'm guessing the rest of you wouldn't have been able to see it...
