More on socks: if you're doing 2 at a time on magic loop, with self-patterned yarn, do you just buy two balls of yarn so that you can get it all lined up? Taking from the inside and outside wouldn't work as then the pattern on one sock would be in the reverse direction.

Drell when I've done it I bought 2 balls and then made matching wrist warmers with the leftovers. some brands do 50g balls. The other alternative is to unwind half and then re-ball it in the opposite direction. I find 2 balls get less tangled than using both ends of the same ball as well

EP suggests Winwick Mum and I'd second that - she has a DK pattern too - look online or on Facebook for the Winwick Mum Sockalong group. She also explains how to find the match in sock yarn if that matters to you.

I rewind the ball/skein into two balls with a matching start point. It's fiddly but works when there *is* a match - I've discovered that not all wool has a defined repeat.

So that it's clear in my mind. If I knit one sock with self patterning yarn, followed by the second sock, in theory it should be the same (or similar if I don't find the defined repeat). If I knit two socks at a time then I need to rewind the ball into two balls.

I think I will just be doing one sock at a time to start with ;-) I've only just being taught how to do two matching sleeves at a time ;-)

depends on the sock RA - you can get Regia Pairfect yarn which has a yellow bit of yarn at the start of the 2nd repeat otherwise as H says follow the instructions and do it by eye

Thanks HB and Helegant. Fiddly rewinding, or extravagant purchasing :-)

Finished my hitofude :-)

ravelry.com

Really enjoyed knitting that!

Another step in finding my knitting mojo has been to delete the contents of my ravelry queue, I had so many things I wanted to make that I was actually making nothing :-( .
I did go through it first and favourite a lot of it so I can easily find things again if I really want to, but everything is 'out of mind' as I very rarely look at my favourites.
