Thanks, Phil! I might just do that and forget about the packing for tonight. Yawn...
I'd def apply for those two posts (unless the shortlisting panel forthe previous application had some fundamental things to say about why they didn't invite you for interview) - fingers crossed!

SA - I'm exhausted just reading about your current state of being. Been there recently minus the cold. It's a struggle I know. I can only sympathise. ((((((SP))))))

Thanks, RS. :-)

Slept much better last night. Alas, it didn't save the interview - I messed up. I had prepared for lots of difficult questions, but they never came. Instead, I failed to bring in my experience, skills etc in the easy-ish questions - suddenly, it was over and I don't think I had mentioned even half of the stuff I've done that would be bang-on applicable to the role as they never 'asked' for it. And when they asked at the end whether there was anything I wanted to add, my mind went completely blank. D'oh!! Shame, as I was able to ask my critical questions and it turned out they had good reasons for not having done the thing I was concerned about, the role is only fixed-term for HR reasons (likely to be extended), the people seemed nice and the job sounded right up my street. Ach weel...

:( SA. Did you get your other stuff dont?

No call as yet from Tuesday’s interview (they said they should get back to me by the end of the week). I did a 15 minute call for the other job. If I’m being entirely honest I can’t remember what the exact job description was (I didn’t save it as I got distracted by the Tuesday one which I thought looked far better) but decided that the best approach is to be open about my experience and what I want from a job. As I’m not actually that desperate to move and would only move for the perfect job there’s not much harm in doing that. They said that face to face interviews are on the 16th/18th and they make a decision early next week who to invite.

Note to all people with up and coming interviews, do NOT use the term 'we' instead of 'I' for the whole of your interview as you will certainly call yourself nasty names afterwards.

YP, sounds like the right approach to me - after all, you have to want the job, too, not just the other way round.

Oops, Woffy. :-(

Mind, calling yourself names afterwards might not be justified. I was still beating myself up about having messed up the interview when they called to say that I got the job. :-) Taking that call was the only time I've sat down all day yesterday in between the mess of moving house - the previous owners left the place in a right state and it'll take us weeks to get it to an acceptable level of cleanliness. Just as well that the new job is only starting in January. :-)

Thank you, Mrs S! :-)

The interviewer who called was really nice and said he wanted to let me know that they've had a couple of hundred applicants and two others had interviewed very strongly, too, so I should be even more chuffed with having got the job. I also thought it was super nice that he tried to call me twice (didn't hear it the first time) as HR would only send out the letter next week, but he said he wanted to let me know before the weekend. :-)

Now, the only other thing I need is a new brain... :-)

(Oh, and a proper think about whether to accept as might have a negative impact on one particular job I might be interested in in the future, and also the pay being pretty low, not an awful lot more than now on housing benefit.)

That's good news you were offered, SA. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.
