I just had a chat with the colleague/business partner/ex hb... As things are still totally unclear about the redundancy.

I have now forced some clarity and put my foot down as his initial suggestions were unacceptable. Looks like I will be working two 6 hours days a week as of 1 February, for the charity, and will get my redundancy pay from the current art dealership.

This is actually quite good, as it gives me some base income while I build up other sources of income, for the next two years...

Been networking like crazy and things seem to be coming together on the MTB and yoga therapy weekends, and now that I know where I stand, I can start working on regular yoga therapy sessions at local nursing homes and talk to the local foraging lady that wants me as her business partner...

Onwards, upwards!

Translation work H? There's a business based up the road from us (I'm not suggesting you move here) that translates data-sheets, brochures etc

Good luck with your interviews YP and Woffy

Great news RS :-)

Hanneke that sounds positive!

I have also been networking. Found out that my next-door neighbour is close friends with the Head of Production at a large oil company in my perfect location in Aberdeen and he's going to have a word with him. It's the company that took over the company I used to work for and several people I worked with are still with them. I had given up looking until Xmas is out of the way but now I think I will do more next week. Give me a kick to do something next week folks ;-)

I'm here and having coffee and cake in the cafe downstairs while I wait. Every time I come here it reminds me what a brilliant setup this place has, fingers crossed I get to work here!

*crosses fingers for YP*

DT, I have been trying to get some translating work again, it is what I used to largely do before I moved to UK and have kept doing occasionally. Problem is, these days agencies want you to work with a computer programme and pay accordingly, i.e. nothing :(

My only remaining client, a Dutch museum, has stopped doing multi lingual catalogues as they have been booted out by the council and now have to fend for themselves without funding. Familiar story *rolls eyes*

I *think* that went OK. The technical test was fine (drafting heads of terms for a sponsorship agreement - I *knew* it would be a sponsorship agreement...), the presentation was fine and they said I'd covered all the points, a couple of interview answers could have been better but no major blunders and they seemed to approve of some of the questions I asked. Apparently they interviewed 4 people. They need to review the drafting but said they'll get back to me by the end of the week.

Lots of good news in Woffy, Mrs S, RS, YP and Hanneke lands, well done all. Really happy to read all your positive news. :-)

YP, sounds like you did well, and with only 4 people having been interviewed, I would put money on a positive outcome if I was a gambler. ;-)

RS, I know what you mean about working for a friend - maybe have a chat with them beforehand to make sure you're both on the same page with regard to friendship/work relationship? Yay on getting a job though. :-)

I have an interview on Thursday for a job I'm not too sure about. Done a bit of research today and am still rather unclear - they seem a bit disorganised and I'll need to find out how that would affect any potential extension/branching out of the role (only advertised until summer). Not really helping that I'm moving house this week, am working overtime and have two exams on Monday - I seem to have packed a sheet of notes I took for the interview into one of umpteen boxes, d'oh. Oh, and the interview will be right on my busiest day this week: getting up at stupid o'clock to pack last bits and bobs for move, leaving home at 7am, teaching right until I need to leave for interview, teaching again afterwards, back home around 8.30pm, clean flat for official handover on Friday morning - all hail Red Bull. :-D

I met a friend from my old dept for lunch. Sounds like the whole building now knows about the behaviour of the vitriolic one. My friend has received a few comments to the effect of people not liking to go into their office due to the atmosphere (and worse!). Surely the boss will have to address her issues at some point? How I feel now, compared to the stress I held on arriving home, feels so different.

I've headspilled into a buddies only blog - let me know if you want to read it. I wanted a note for myself of what I thought I got right and wrong for future reference...
