To be honest in practical terms the back feels fine at the mo, Muttley. I'm doing the stretching and strength stuff to try to keep it that way and it seems to be working so far.
I'll probably regret saying that when I feel a ping getting out of the shower or something later won't I?

Knocked out a little UT1/ Tempo session this morning of just 10 minutes at r20, plus warm up and down. Managed to tick that off at a smidge under 2:05 pace with no twinges or issues and feeling pretty good about things.
So I decided to see if I could hold a sub-2 pace, just for a 250m piece. Nothing too silly.
And I can! I held a 1:55ish pace at about r26, which is another confidence booster and makes me think that I ought to do a benchmark 2k soon so I can see how things are improving over the coming months.

Sounds good, but 250 metres at pace to 2k benchmark seems a bit of a leap to me ...

Yeah, it’s one of those things where it seems like a dangerously bad idea but I’m kind of tempted. I won’t yet though.
Maybe I’ll try a 500m at about the 1:50ish pace at the weekend. But maybe not, as I’ve got a flu jab booked for tomorrow so it’s play it by ear and see if I have any reaction before really firming up any plans.

My main goal on the erg is to cover 1 million metres in a year (or if I don't quite make that, in a season). Just totted up my C2 logbook for 2024 since January and am at just over 1,050,000, so achievement unlocked. But no slacking, I'll keep going for now. Might take a week off during the festive season while I overeat, ready to battle the blubber afresh in the New Year.

Big numbers, Muttley! Well done, mate.
More (nominally) UT2 stuff this morning. 3 x 15 min @r18 ticks the necessary box, although my HR was drifting up and mostly in the UT1 zone, with a few bits and bobs creeping into AT. Plenty of work to do to get back on top of the rowing fitness there.

Today's RowAlong randomizer threw out a joker -- 85 minutes, basically made up of stroke ladders from 7 down to 1 minute at 18 rising to 30 spm, although the pacing was relatively benign, with 30-sec breathers after the first two. With the rate variations it all went surprisingly quickly. But my glutes and quads are talking to me right now
