If you can pb with 2000 still to go, there's obviously room for further improvement!

Does physical size help with rowing? I'm pondering that having relatively long limbs coupled with the ability, to naturally, have a high spm is very beneficial. I really have to concentrate on low(er) spm and not forcing the recovery.

Yes. Taller bodies have an advantage due to Having longer levers. You’ll very rarely see a rower in an international event that’s under 6 feet tall.

Competitive rowing, ie the 2k, is all about power so ideally you will have legs up to your armpits, the wingspan of a Boeing, and lungs like airbags. From what you say, you might be part way there. High rating up to 30 and above is all well and good but you won't get the pace and power if you haven't done the basic technique low rating stuff. Which is a drag, I admit. Although that said, some blokes are just units and can beast it out |

I was almost 6ft 3 back in the day, but don't you shrink as you get older? Probably 14 stone (I don't weigh myself), large wing span (!) and at least 33 inch inner leg

You’re shaped like a rower, Fenners, and starting to be trained like one too. When are you going to give the 2k a proper kicking?

And wishing everyone a pleasant and fun festive season of whichever religious or secular flavour you prefer Not a rowing day for me, went for a run instead, 7.5 miles along the coastal path. |
