The sun is lower in the sky now and the rays stream through the windows into the lounge more than they do when it's high up and shaded out by the eaves. So this morning's workout (30 minutes of 20 spm 2k+20 but every 4 and a half minutes do 30 seconds still at 20 spm but as hard as you can) was in 24.5 degrees of warmth and rapidly became rather sweaty.

That's a bit extreme, Muttley.

I did a nice simple 3 x 7 min @r18 in the shed. Very bright but only about 15c in there so not unpleasant.

Progress is being made. 3 x 9 min @r18 this lunchtime. It's feeling a bit smoother and more natural each time I row, and the pace against HR is starting to edge int eh right direction a little too.

Good to hear, Nellers. Sounds like the plan is coming together.

Something short and energetic for me this morning, a RowAlong "top tier" workout. A long warmup then 4 x 1 min go 1 min rest then 4 x 30 secs on and off and finally 4 x 15 secs on and off. Paces: 2k-5 for the 1 mins then try for a little faster on the 30 secs and again on the 15 secs.

Just about managed it so that the PM5 doesn't forget what 1:5x looks like. And got to 32 spm as well. That blew out some cobwebs.

That sounds like it won't just be the cobwebs that get blown out, mate! Well done.

Today's random RowAlong was 12 x 90 secs 1 min recover, 24 spm but driving a bit harder than usual to hit 2k+7 or better. His pace targets work well for me; my 2k time is soft (8:08) so I work with 2:00 as my 2k effort.

Done at a smidge faster overall. That 1 minute of rest sounds generous but it was beginning to bite towards the end :-)

I'm still a bit scared to try anything "hard" yet on the rower but that sounds like one I'd like to have a bash at sooner or later.

I've done more UT2 this morning. 4 x 8 min @r18 ticked off. 7.5km or so. All still feeling pretty comfortable and pain free, with the HR gradually edging back into proper UT2 territory.

2 x 20 minutes for me this morning, at 20 and then 18 spm. Just a basic metres in the bank row, music in headphones, brain in neutral.

Is anyone going to be having a go at BRIC in the end? A few of us were saying we’d be giving it a go earlier in the year and I’ve been invalided out but I’ve lost track of whether anyone else is still on track.
