Now that summer's over and my local outdoor pool is closed I need to make friends with the C2 again. I might just start with the workout of the day for now, aim to hit that three or four times a week. Tricky to do a training plan properly because I know I'll be away for two weeks in October, and again in November, so consistency will be tricky, but the erg will be a good foil for running regardless.

This is not indoor rowing but one of my friends sent me a petition to reinstate the GB Lightweight crew, see here if you'd like to support: change.org

I'm enjoying this late burst of warm and sunny weather right now, but it does make for rather hard and sweaty going on the erg.

Gah, I have caught a stinking cold from somewhere. I decided to do 5000m UT2 with the hr strap on and see how it went. In the event a little slower than usual but not by much. And no coughing afterwards so it's in the head and not on the chest, which is good. Still feel a little washed out so an easy day drinking ginger tea and chicken soup, I think.

Slowly but steadily improving, Muttley. I've just done my additional stretches (Nerve flossing. You should try it. It's fun in an "ouch-oooh-ouch-aaahhh!" sort of way. ;-)) and I'm pretty much now walking without a limp and able to get on with my day. I still can't extend my leg backwards at the hip without a bit of discomfort, but a couple of weeks ago I couldn't even straighten my hip without screaming so yes, I'm getting there.

He's let me get on the spin bike and do easy stuff over the last week so I'm at least starting to feel like there's a bit of "work" being done on my fitness too.

Ill be back (eventually!).

Sounds promising if rather protracted. I've just looked up nerve flossing. Interesting!

It's a necessary step in the process but it's not a very nice feeling!

It sounds like you’re definitely making progress, and it’s always good to feel there’s a clear pathway towards recovery, even if some of the rehab is uncomfortable. Good you can get on the spin bike now too.

The spin bike has really been a gamechanger mentally! Mrs Nellers will tell you that I'm no fun to be around if I can't exercise.
